BBC – Just One Thing

The BBC’s Science Unit commissioned us to create graphics for the latest series of Just One Thing. Originally created and hosted by Michael Mosley, it’s now presented by Zoe Ball, Roman Kemp and Clive Myrie.

The show’s simple premise is that making one small evidence-based change can significantly improve your health and wellbeing.

Each of the twelve episodes features two animated graphical sections.

The graphics use a layered cut-out style applied to various photographic images, creating simple motion graphics rather than a complex 3D approach. This style was chosen for several reasons:

  • It simplifies complex science into digestible visuals.
  • It supports, rather than overwhelms, the human stories.
  • It reinforces memory by combining the graphic with the habit.
  • It aligns with the show’s ethos of simplicity, practicality and actionability.

The graphics in Just One Thing are clean, data-driven and human-focused. They use minimalist animation and clear typography to translate scientific evidence into quick, memorable visual insights, perfectly matching the show’s “one small change” concept.

Working on this series was a real joy and allowed us to stretch our creativity, bringing the themes to life in a fun and engaging way.
