OVO Hydro Screen Animation | Immersive 3D Motion Design
The OVO Hydro is Scotland’s largest entertainment venue, welcoming over one million visitors each year. To enhance the arrival experience, the venue introduced a 17-metre-wide digital screen at the entrance, creating a bold and immersive welcome for audiences attending events.
We were commissioned to create a large-format motion graphics animation that complemented the existing OVO Hydro brand identity while bringing energy and excitement to the visitor journey.
Working closely with the brand guidelines, we developed a creative concept built around the iconic OVO tilted square motif. This became the central visual element, driving the animation and creating a consistent connection between the screen content, the venue, and the wider brand experience.
The animation was designed to work seamlessly within the large-scale digital environment, combining dynamic transitions, immersive 3D visuals, and carefully considered layouts to allow space for messaging and imagery. We also created a series of anamorphic animations, using perspective and depth to produce striking visuals that engage visitors as they enter the venue.
All 3D environments and animations were created in Cinema 4D, giving us the flexibility to build detailed digital worlds with the scale, depth, and realism required for such an impressive display. From initial modelling and texturing through to lighting, animation, and final delivery, every element was carefully crafted to maximise the impact of the screen.
The project involved developing complex 3D scenes and environments, transforming initial concepts into a finished immersive brand experience that visitors can enjoy every time they enter the OVO Hydro.
This was an exciting collaboration with a client who embraced creative exploration and allowed us to push the possibilities of large-format digital design. Seeing our work experienced by millions of visitors at one of Scotland’s most iconic entertainment venues makes this project particularly rewarding.
