Saving Country Houses with Penelope Keith
Saving Country Houses with Penelope Keith is a documentary series exploring the stories behind some of Britain’s remarkable country houses, and the people working to protect their future.
Working with Somersault Studio, we were asked to develop a visual style that complemented the programme’s focus on architectural heritage without distracting from the buildings themselves.
We created a bespoke illustrated treatment for each of the nine houses featured throughout the series. These illustrations became a key part of the programme’s visual identity, incorporated into animated maps to establish the location of each property and brought together within the opening title sequence.
The result is an understated, handcrafted approach inspired by traditional heritage illustration, giving the graphics a sense of history and character while allowing the architecture to remain firmly centre stage.
